Terms of Service

Last updated August 27, 2026

These are the terms for using Wallet Reward. By signing in or using the app, you're agreeing to them. Questions: hello@walletreward.ca.

Wallet Reward is early-stage software, built and operated by a very small team. It's provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, and hasn't been through a formal security audit. It handles real financial data — please read this page, and don't connect accounts or invite others until you're comfortable with that.

What Wallet Reward is

A free household budgeting app: upload bank statements or connect accounts directly, categorize spending, forecast cashflow, and (if you opt in) request competing offers on bills where one company dominates a category. Core budgeting features are free, permanently.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use Wallet Reward. It's intended for personal, non-commercial household use.

Your account and household

Connecting a bank account

If you connect a bank account, you're authorizing us — through our provider, Plaid Inc. — to retrieve your transaction history on your behalf. This is read-only: Wallet Reward never initiates a transfer, payment, or any change to your account. Your use of Plaid is also subject to Plaid's own end-user terms. Bank connections can occasionally break or require you to re-authenticate — this is a known limitation of bank data aggregation in Canada generally, not specific to us, and CSV upload remains available as a fallback.

Not financial advice

Wallet Reward shows you your own spending and may suggest that a bill could be shopped around. Nothing in the app is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and we're not a licensed financial advisor. Decisions about your money are yours to make.

How we make money

Free, permanently, for core budgeting. We earn a fee only when you explicitly ask us to shop a specific bill category and you accept a competing offer that results in a switch. We may also let companies reach anonymous audience segments (e.g. "households with high telecom spend") without revealing who you are. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

Don't use Wallet Reward to try to access another household's data, abuse the invite system, misuse the "Make them compete" feature to submit fake requests, or otherwise interfere with the service. We can suspend or terminate access for behaviour like this.

Beta features and changes

Features may change, break, or be removed as the app evolves — this is expected of an early-stage product. We'll try to avoid losing your data when that happens, but given the "as is" nature of the service, we can't guarantee it. Keep your own backups (the "Download a backup copy" option in the app) if that matters to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Wallet Reward and its operator aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including data loss, inaccurate categorization, forecast errors, or issues with a bank connection. Use budgeting figures as a guide, not as the sole basis for financial decisions.

Termination

You can stop using Wallet Reward, leave a household, or ask us to delete your data at any time (see the Privacy Policy for how). We can suspend or terminate an account for violating these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada.

Changes to these terms

If we make a material change, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
